I have dogs and have needed gates in the past. What type of dog is it that is so interested in escaping that it will jump over a gate, but not bright enough to push the gate open since it can't be fastened to the wall or floor?

Dogs are generally smart enough to push against (or accidentally discover that they can push against) a barrier.

2 of my dogs can easily jump any gate I put up, but they are afraid of the tension baby gate ... it makes a racket when it falls down and the dogs are scared of it! Dogs can be quite bright, but they can also have irrational fears!

Frontgate used to have heavy freestanding dog gates. Just looked at their site and it doesn't look like they have the variety that they used to offer.

If the agile dogs don't respect boundaries, these probably won't work.

Seriously, though, unless the dogs are just visitors, I think some training would be more valuable.

I have the 4 panel version of this gate and found it very useful, though I haven't needed it in a while. It's obviously not lucite, but it does have a nice gate in it so you don't have to move it to go through.
