Au contraire, I appreciate this thread. If I could reliably search on here, I wouldn't be needing someone else to bump this. I find this thread incredibly helpful and have tried to find it numerous times, for reference but it just doesn't happen.

Like salonva, I have no problem with this thread. And if I did, I know how to scroll past. I also know how to switch off email notifications about new comments.

salonva, when I search discussions for "meta", this thread is the first to come up so it should be easy to find. But if that's not working for you, you can always bookmark this thread for future reference. Once the thread is open, you can do a page search to find a particular topic such as "soup" or "cookies".

I have recently added a couple of links to ongoing discussions that I think fit the criteria which causes this thread to update. I will continue to add links to threads that I think are of general interest with longevity as they come up, just as others have and hopefully will continue to do so.

I like that you used meta, too, because it’s not a common word in thread titles. I suspect salonva meant that searching for the threads you’ve linked here is futile. You get threads from 2016 mixed in with threads from 2005 and no way to sort by date.

There's a lot to be desired about the search function here for sure! It's a total mess. If it were effective, this meta thread wouldn't be needed at all.

salonva, do you do the search from within the Kitchen Table forum? I go into Kitchen Table and then type in meta in the search box...I get a pop up that asks if I want to search just the Kitchen Table which I select and get the following result:

I am going to remove my posts asking for help here, and start a new thread with that.

You're welcome sprtphntc. Who posts is not the measure of how useful this thread is any more than how many editors a book has is a measure of how well read it is. Rather it's about who refers to this thread to find the posts they are looking for.

Even if I were the only one posting to a thread that only I found useful, so what? It's not like there's a limit on threads and mine would prevent others from posting. If it's not useful for you, then ignore it. No one is compelled to visit a thread.

This thread is so helpful. I was looking for a simple appetizer to take to a NYE party and voila Im taking apricots with mascarpone cheese and toasted nuts!

I really dont want to go to this party but I kinda hafta.

Ded, I made that recipe (MOI who is not one to easily do these things...) and it was great. I've since made it a few times. It's SO easy and SO good.

- I also made it with whipped cream cheese, and thought t was just as good, but the toasted or glazed nuts is key.

I made the apricot mascarpone appetizer on NYE and DH and I really liked it. The dried apricots I used were a bit too big — next time, I’ll cut them in half (or try to find smaller ones). Tasty little treats!

Jilly, thanks for that reminder. I need a couple of appetizers for our supper club in March and those apricot-mascarpone bites would be easy to prepare ahead. If I may ask, where do you all buy your dried apricots? TJ’s, Fresh Market? other? I know they need to be rather soft.

Outside, I was at my local Albertsons when I thought of it, so just got them while there. I’m glad you asked, I’m curious about other sources.

I plumped up the dried apricots by simmering them. I each one in half, then stuffed with mascarpone and dipped the cheese in chopped walnuts. Once they were all on a plate, i gave them a light sprinkle of salt.

Well well well..... I found this! This might be the 23rd time I've tried searching for this thread as well as a few others and for whatever reason, I guess 23 is the required number of attempts- but it worked!!!!

Now I'm going to search through this because I found it incredibly useful and was reminded of it with the current gift thread.

Thanks Annie-- nothing in particular but there were a few iterations of this- one I remembered had everything but a few were specific like best brunch recipes etc. I was more interested in the random assortment that I believe you started, but we all added to it. Occasionally i'm able to find the happy reads thread which is always nice. I just wish the search function worked ......
