Happy New Year, Jeri and everyone! Lovely rose! No blooms in my roses right now - they got blasted by a fire hose yesterday!

So happy that not only was there a huge rainstorm a few days ago, but also there was an amazing one yesterday (San Francisco got almost 6 inches of rain in 17 hours - almost unheard of!), but they are predicting another similar storm coming in Wed, and then more next week. This is the "normal" weather pattern we used to have every Winter, so I have hopes it will continue...

Happy New Year, dear Jeri and everyone else on these wonderful rose forums. Your Alice Hamilton is far more beautiful than the Old Blush I remember in my garden, which also mildewed its little heart out. I love the large, nodding blooms of AH, a rose that is now definitely on my radar.

Even here, at about twenty miles north of the Mexican border, we had a wonderful rain that lasted most of the night and so surely yielded at the least an inch of moisture. I can't express how happy I am at this hint of a more normal weather pattern. There could not be a better beginning to the new year.

I'm with you Ingrid. That wonderful, healing rain has brought me so much hope.

Good news and good auspices for the beginning of a better year to come. It makes me smile to know the rain is bringing my California friends renewed hope.

Amazing, the overnight rain here yielded 2.4 inches of rain. What a mood lifter, and now the day after it's begun to rain again. Who knew that bad weather could make you feel so good???? My little rose plants must be in heaven but it's too wet out to check them. Difficult to believe that a week ago we were high and dry.

Edited: I lied, I went out in the dark and in a drizzling rain with a flashlight to check on each and every rose. As cool as it's been there's not a lot happening but at least I could assure myself that they haven't been eaten. I've become a little crazy and I wonder if I can possibly last long enough for them to grow and bloom. My husband is not so sure but he's been remarkably patient with my neurosis.
