First, I’d size the runner so that it’s in proportion to the entire doorway including the sidelight, and center it in the hall, not just center by width, but length as well. Which might mean you need a different doormat to sit directly in front of the door and have the runner match up in length more to the stairs wall length. I think once you get the runner situation situated, it’ll be much easier to decide what other items you might need or want.

If the wall you are asking about is the one with the wreath, the possibilities are endless. A long console to span part of the wall with a mirror on top or lamps flanking an Art piece would look very "entry" -like. 

Baskets underneath can store items if the console doesn't have much space. If you don't want that, you can decorate with panelling, large art or a gallery wall art. I would love to put black framed pictures with white super white matting and then a plant on the side. Something simple

The rug isn't the right size , at the very least it should cover a few inches around the door, I drew a line where a carpet should span from. I think a different design on the rug also would look better. The one you have is clashing a little with the floors.

The rug is off. Off in color. Off in pattern. Off in size. Off in its alignment within the hall.

I would paint the front door a dark colour and install white roman shades on both windows.

It difficult to say what lenght the runner should be from the photos but it should be centered in the width of the hallway. A colourful vintage rug would be a nice touch along with a narrow console with mirror along the wall on the right. Perhaps you can replace one of the potlights with a decorative pendant or flushmount.

As you enter the house, with the door swing, the stairs are the first thing you see. Put a dramatic work of art on the wall facing the front door at the bottom of the stairs to draw the eye. Possibly a chest or table there if possible, with a lamp on it to brighten up that dark space and highlight the artwork.

Then the narrow console as suggested on the wall with the wreath. Also as suggested an interior door mat so a runner can be centered on the long hall and the console.
