This is semi flush

it's a lovely spot. the fixture has too much utilitarian aspect to it. I like the schoolhouse fixtures generally but not there.. Did you have a few other final "picks" ? I would seriously reconsider this piece. Semi flush doesnt play up the spot with the angled walls all that well....a piece that extends down seems about right but pick another one.

dimmers help...I have them all over the place w some eyesight issues myself. Have you been to a ligting store with pro people working. I've utilized that as well as searching Kichler/ seagull / quoizel / catalogues a bit on line for the various selections I've made over time. something like this might help w the frosted or white glass shade ...maybe alabaster or other art glass..... it probably can be found in different metals w the glass and different sizes as well.

For your needs, how about a hanging boob chandelier? It has no fabric or cloth, covered light bulbs, and long enough to properly light the dining table. Here's two I thought would look nice with your space

with issues brought up in carification dont rule out sticking w flush to ceiling . it might work the best for you/....here are various....sometimes I like the Flush at the ceiling . the tiffany is always a beauty...I like the last one quite a bit....they call it semi flush but that is really close to the ceiling.

oh thats a great classy one..so much nice detail. did you mean 500 dollars....if you can find it /or similar w a search at a lighting center sometimes they provide a discount.....I did four exterior light fitting upgrades after exterior work and they discounted under my contractor's name...just inquire....
