Thanks! There’s really not a better spot for the tv. We have a sectional and it’s actually positioned at a good angle where it’s pretty straight on from every seat on the couch.

Hang art. That wall is part of a home, and part of a room. Show more pictures of ALLL the space. Like the sectional we can't see. From several directions. Nothing lives without some context of a whole.

It is a rather handsome staircase and on the petite side. I'd use a light touch here instead of a heavy hand. I personally like it as is and am rarely a fan of an accent color on walls. Once we see the rest of the space and what your style preference is we can say more about what to do. I think some small art work or wall hung objects will be more than enough.

If you do decide to paint it a color, you'll need to think how that color goes with every other color in the sight lines - living room, dining room, upper hallway, and the blue room at the top of the stairs.

Looks like an excellent place for a picture/photo/art gallery to me.

Appreciate all your help! Here are more photos for context. Basically I have 2 young boys that destroy everything so I’ve kept decorating to a minimum hence our coffee table is a child’s play table.

I was also thinking when we bought 2 years ago that this was a starter home we’d stay in for 2 years then move so wanted to keep things basic for a potential new buyer to easily turn into whatever their vision is. Well looks like we’ll be here 3-5 more years so better make it more homey.

I’ve also been apprehensive about art on the staircase wall especially down the lower half since the kids put their hands on the wall for balance all the time.

This is perfect for a painted accent wall. The wall under the stairs behind the tv, and the wall beside the stairs below the horizontal rail and around the door at the bottom of the stairs would be very nice painted in Navy or similar blue as your sofa.

This area could be kept just plain with nothing add, however if you want to add something we might recommend looking into some artwork with some blue in it to help coordinate the spaces.
