Very strange. Now if this had been a Loony Tune cartoon the scenario would have been like this:

Yoyobon is walking through the forest minding her own business when she suddenly sees a book on the ground in front of her feet. She bends to pick it up not noticing that it has a length of rope attached to it. The book slowly moves away from her hand, she follows until she comes face to face with a very hairy bear who's wide open mouth displays nasty sharp teeth.

But nothing daunted, our heroine, who speaks fluent 'bear' says " Is this a photo of you on the cover? My word you are really so much more good looking than your picture. May I take a look inside the book to read your words of wisdom?"

The bear lulled into a sense of false security passes the book to Yoyobon who speedily finds the chapter 'Bears: How to Fight and Win'. A quick glance tells her all she needs to know. With her free hand she quickly detaches the rope from the book and still one-handed makes a slipknot ( she didn't get a bear-catching badge in Girl Scouts for nothing) loops it over the bear's head and the other end round an overhanging branch and . .. PULLS.

At the sound of the bear's heavy gasps the local ranger appears. "My goodness Miss, we have been chasing that old grizzly for years. How did you manage to stay so calm when facing imminent evisceration and almost certain death?"

Instead of answering him Yoyobon, pulling herself up to her full 5 foot something, looks the ranger in the eye and tells him "You addressed me using what might be considered an inappropriate pronoun. I might prefer to be known as he she they it . . ."

With a faint cry of terror the ranger climbs the rope and clings to the body of the still-alive bear. "I know when I'm beat. I feel much safer up here."
