Fieldstone Cabinets? Signature Custom Cabinetry?

We are remodeling our kitchen. We have selected a contractor with a stellar reputation, including several recommendations from people we know personally. We are trying to work with his trusted suppliers whenever possible; for cabinets, he works with a cabinet design company that uses mostly Fieldstone cabinets, but also works with Signature Custom Cabinetry.

They are steering us toward Fieldstone. Fieldstone cabinets look good and have plenty of options for semi-custom cabinets, but internet reviews are mixed when it comes to quality control. Signature looks like they will be of similar appearance, with a paralyzingly large number of options (unlike Fieldstone, they are fully custom), at least as high quality, and we expect significantly higher expense.

There have been a number of threads in the past few years about Fieldstone, but none recently, and I’d love to hear about recent experiences with either company, positive or negative. While Fieldstone has poorer (and more) reviews, they also appear to be a much larger company, and I’m trying to be mindful of the fact that people are much more likely to write negative than positive reviews in general, so the review disparity could be just due to their different sizes.

I am having the same debate and can find little info....I will tell you that I put Signature into our master bath and they are great quality. You can tell they are custom. I am also scared a bit by the negative reviews on Fieldstone but the reviews are older. The kitchen place we are using has a great rep locally and they have dealt with both brands for a long time and like both.

I have Signature custom cabinets from Ephrata, PA (Lancaster county) in my bathroom (2015) and kitchen (2018). I have both painted and stained cabinets. As of today I have not had any issues. Easy to clean (a little Dawn / water recommended followed by a dry towel). During the kitchen install my designer noticed the island needed molding at the bottom and called Signature. They sent out the molding (no extra cost) within a week (I actually live about 40 min away). When signature gave us a delivery date they delivered on time with each cabinet protected. My designer checked them with me and no issues. From a price standpoint they cost more than what my neighbor spent but the difference was my ability to maximize my space due to some custom sizes. No fillers. I don’t know about the other brand but I can say Signature was worth the money.

I just wanted to follow up. I went back to the cabinet store, and talked to our designer there. She agreed that Signature is better quality, and had more options. It looks like the main reason she was suggesting Fieldstone is the price and lead time. Signature is an extra month lead time, and more expensive, but only by 3-8% she guessed, depending on what selections we end up making. It is an easy choice for us to go with Signature.

Wasn’t happy with Fieldstone finish. I foresee painting over in a few years sadly. Ordered Benjamin Moore simply white over maple and they couldn’t even tell me the finish sheen. Seems like a good wash or the sponge will take the paint off.
