warm white, corn husk green and accents of cranberry and Prussian blue) and whisper yellow in the family room/hall/kitchen. kitchen ...will be a dark blue (bottom cabinets) and white. That is a lot of color. It is adorable! I love color too.

Probably the safest thing to do is pick the same color as the kitchen cabs and paint everything the same, trim, ceiling, walls. Because you do not have a lot of natural light install layered lighting and then use furnishings, flooring and accessories for color. The white will tie all the rooms together and help make the house seem larger and less chopped up.

That said your colors are fun and joyful and I like the yellow you picked, painting the walls that yellow with white ceilings and white and blue kitchen would be fun and cheerful. What I would not do is paint the walls half and half or do any accent walls. Use your accessories, art and furn to add layered color. Do any of these pictures ring true for you?

Paint all the walls a light creamy white - not too yellow though. It will let your colorful cabinets and other accent colors pop. Sorry about your fire. Glad your home is on the mend.

We always think 'when the place is empty I will paint' and it works in our heads but the reality is that's a lot of decisions and a lot to do in a short period. All a soft white is a reasonalbe suggestion. Give yourself time or get some input from a designer. It's a lot to decide for one set of eyes.

IMO wait until the kitchen is done then use the white from the cabinets to paint all the walls it will be atotal new look that might encouage some changes in decor too. The space seem to be a bit traditional but not totally . Please no walper borders, embrace the nice big walls and get some great art you love in quite large sizes . Those drapes have either to go or you need many more panels and no tie backs . If you want a wall that IMO is real neutral this is my fave I cut it 25% it is a hint of color and honestly works everywhere .I would start by priming all the walls so you strat with a white slate since all the walls need primer before you paint anything. I have a double height living room now for the first time and while this is a big expanse of wall I just ignore the upper half - the whole room is painted the same color and I don't hang any art above the nine foot level. Wallpaper borders and chair rails were popular in the past, but they aren't now. While I always like to tell people to have it their way, painting is a big expense if you pay someone else to do it and doing something neutral is a long lasting way to go. Look at the most popular colors of your preferred brand (or of the preferred brand of your painting contractor). They are popular for a reason. The white and blue in your kitchen is sending you in a cool direction with colors while your previous color scheme was warm. If you have to buy all new upholstered furniture as part of the remediation, choose your furniture first if you can and let the wall color be driven by it, while also bearing in mind what the floors are going to look like. If it is too overwhelming to choose, use a color consultant. The major paint brands sometimes have them in their flagship stores. We recently got painting bids for our house and the two largest contractors had color consultants on staff so ask your painting contractor if they have this resource available. Or show us your floors and furniture and we will try to offer suggestions. But using the white of your new cabinets is a good place to start for at least the trim color.

kandrewspa here is the manufacturer's image of the flooring that will be installed throughout the house. Both my living and family room have brown leather couches (recliners in family room). The living room has some antique pieces (secretary and bookcase), a banana leaf chair with green cushion and newly restored 1960s IKEA chair (awaiting new custom cushions). The dining room has an antique buffet and this dining room set. The family room has a cranberry-colored barrel chair, side tables, husband's desk/chair/computer area and an entertainment center that is the same maker/style as the dining room table. There is large art and gallery wall arrangements throughout the house. Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the furniture in place except for the photos in my original post. What kandrews said above about not doing your walls in half with wallpaper or different color paints. It makes your room look disjointed and, well, cut in half.

Paint them a nonoffensive white. Then you have a blank slate to bring in your furnishings colors of corn husk green, burgundy, etc. Your color scheme is very busy and makes your room seem heavy and crowded, which is another reason to paint your walls a very light and cohesive color.

I agree on not doing your walls cut in half with wallpaper and different color paints. I really hope you dont go all white. Your home was comfortable and colorful, in the before picture. The colors you had are nice. I dont much like the wallpaper you previously had.
