Have you considered induction instead of electric? Of all the choices, electric would be the LAST on my list. Look at the Frigidaire induction range if price is an issue.

In CR's testing, the GE JB735SPSS radiant (smoothtop) range earned a recommended rating, is inexpensive, and owners like it as well.

Make sure it's an induction range, not a "regular" electric radiant range. Personally, I like knobs, so I went with an LG induction range.

Thanks all for recommendations. I’ll look them up.

A slidein Frigidaire induction is priced well. Ikea has induction with a 5-year warranty. Electrolux makes them and Frigidaire. They are 100x better than radiant. Costco has a OXO non-stick 10" and 12" pan set for $40 good for induction. Best rated by Americas Test Kitchen. I can agree with that.

I wouldn't take a free radiant range.

I bought a GE smooth top range, electric, NOT induction. I do not like induction. My pans would not of worked and the "hum" would of drove me crazy. I love it. I wasn't sure to begin with, because I had a GE coil. The original coil without all the safety junk on the new ones.

It has four burners. The two in front are large and can be used as a small burner or a large one. The two in back are small.

It is very responsive to turning the control down, almost like gas.
