What daylilies do you have coming this Spring?

I've tried to behave myself, but once again I have failed. So far I think I have five coming in May. I have the following coming:

FRINGED SWEETHEART: adding it to my breeding effots for teeth and a variety of other fringe looks. Being in the north, I like working with Klehm's intros.

FOUR BEASTS IN ONE: plans to tinker with patterned throats. I am behind most with working on the patterns, but I have some plants to tinker with that I don't see others working with.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE: I just like it.

RING NEBULA: The only diploid coming in...so far. If you have been following my posts over the years, I love the white midrib on pink daylilies. Now I will have a purple with a white midrib with multi rings of color in the throat. I have some plans with several plants that I grow.

COSMIC SHINER: I love the color of this one. I have seen it in person in a garden in PA and fell in love with it then.

I would love to know what others are adding to their collection.

David

For those wondering about the hybridizer of COSMIC SHINER, the hybridizers are Dale and Cindy Sherman. If you go to Charlotte's Daylily Diary and go under hybridizers, there is a link to their website. They are from Illinois.

So far we have 9 coming. We said we weren't going to buy any more (in light of our efforts to downsize), but there are always a few we need for hybridizing.

    Here is our list.

From Chad Bush we have ordered Hippopatamus Kisses, Danger Will Robinson, Return of the Jedi and Frindle. The first three were purchased when Chad spoke to our local club and we didn't have to pay full price for these.

From Northern Lights Daylilies, we ordered Hexenbeast, Mayor of Munchkinland, Red-Winged Blackbird, and Wee Beginnings. We Beginnings is a replacement for one I bought earlier that didn't survive so we'll try again. I previously ordered Hexenbeast from a seller who passed before he could ship it. Replacements don't count, right?

From Mark Sattelmeier, we ordered Vanguard. We don't expect it to survive in our climate, so we will overwinter it in the greenhouse. We ordered it and Frindle because they are reverse bitones.

I am sure there will be a few more. Our club will be hosting Sandy Holmes and Steve Williams this spring and the Region 2 Winter Meeting is coming up in February. I expect the auction at the winter meeting will be huge.

Only four? You clearly plant mainly in the fall, which is what I prefer, but most hybridizers introduce things in the spring. People get cabin fever in the winter and spend freely. My list is not finalized, and many sellers don't even have their websites up. On some I may change my mind as well. I indicated interest in one cultivar to a seller, and the next time I looked, the price had been raised by $50.

I picked up some Korths, Judy Davissons, and I am sure a few Hansons. It is always nice to be able to visit a garden and see a cultivar before buying it, but I don't travel much anymore with increasing feebleness.

David - It looks like you are going to be playing with some nice patterns! Cosmic Shiner is one I thought about adding - maybe someday. It would be a good one to cross with White Tooth. I'm going to send you some of that one if I have any increase this Spring.

Nan - It will be interesting to see your Chad Bush intros. I've been pleased with two I have from him. I would find it hard to resist adding more from Sandy Holmes. Hers always perform so well in my garden.

I have five coming ... so far. When it snows, I always seem to buy daylilies online, even though I shouldn't.

Luxurious - a gorgeous 2021 red from Gayle Story

Make It Snappy is coming from J.D. Stadler.

Big Blue Lake and Ultimate Blush are coming from Matt Meadows.

Stone Palace Happy Go Lucky is coming from Dave Evick.

I'm still waiting to see what winter will leave me. I've sworn not to overdo it this year on anything new to my collection. We will see how that goes..............Maryl

I am adding Debra's Bubblegum Queen, And there are three others I plan to get Blue Lightening, Grumpy Cat, and Tanya LaCourte...the Tanya LaCourte was no available last year but may be this year. I never behave, David. I always seen to add even when I tell myself I am through.

I only have 2 coming this spring, Fangs of Fury and Pattern Breaker. At this time, I am not even sure why I chose these 2, just because I could I guess.

Hey, I think I am finally back on. My main computer has been having issues, and when I tried to post from my phone, Houzz deleted my words as I typed. Weird. My son added some memory to my computer and updated some software, and that seems to have corrected some issues. Maybe I can catch up a bit on posting now. Although I remember that I deleted a lot of my pictures for some unknown reason, so not a lot to post. I sure have been enjoying everyone's pictures though!

It's coincidental you should write Nancy as I was just wondering this morning where you had gotten to lately. Sorry about the computer problem. They drive me crazy...........Maryl

    Glad you are back Nancy.

I am not adding any at this point. I've seen some goodies on the alphabet post that are so tempting, but I need the space for splitting seedlings this year.

Nancy in KY - I'm glad to see you back on here. I hope your computer upgrades make it easier to use Houzz.

Too Many!! Over a thousand dollars worth of new inventory. I've got to spend money to make money since I'm selling seeds now and the LA is a competitive place! Last year and this I am buying almost exclusively 'newer' intros to get those valued genetics. But I've bought some that are just for my own hybridizing purposes and aren't as new. This is expensive enough but I had to have a giant oak tree that was shading one of my garden beds removed. That alone cost $1,200. I have a shirt that reads 'I work hard to give my cats a better life'......I need to get one that says the same thing but just insert 'daylilies'....LOL

Celeste, what is your user name on the Lily Auction?

Nothing new in regards to daylilies since I never got the new planting areas finished so I could move some of what I have in the front bed to the side area in the fall.
