Which layout do you prefer?

Hi,

Working on getting furniture for the great room.

Which picture layout below do you like best? #1? #2?

I am not usually a fan of the tv over the FP, but am open to ideas if it works best.

The room is 20x27, so I have extra room/space.

Thanks for any/all input, I really appreciate any help!

I am not a fan of the TV over the fireplace either, so it's #1 for me. Except I would place the sofa across from the TV instead of the chairs, but if the chairs are actually going to be recliners and this is a better arrangement for you there is nothing wrong with it. I assume the chairs pictured are just placeholders for the purpose of the rendering.

Option 1 is what I am seeing every where in new builds.

Definitely TV on wall…not over fireplace next to windows (hurts the eyes)…but a large sofa with left hand chaise or L shaped sectional facing the tv. And a comfy upholstered chair/ottoman to the left of the fireplace. A floor clock could go in the bottom right corner of great room or in the hall outside the secondary bedrooms.

yes, the chairs will be recliner type club chairs. I prefer them facing the tv because they will be used more. The sofa will have a sofa table behind it, because when you walk in you will see the back of the sofa.

I think #1 but this is ahuge space and you have tiny furniture IMO we need to see the actual space and I never buy furniture until I am in the space . I really do not ever want TV above the FP Why tha clock I ma just curious I never like clocks in entertainingspace and grandfather ones IMO belong in entries . I do not like walking through a bathroom to get to a closet , I never put a kitchen sink directly across from a range just other items that pop out to me.

The furniture in the pictures are just fake sketched furniture. Thought that was clear in the pic. Sorry for confusion. I will be purchasing furniture for the room, so this is just an idea layout. The clock is something I already own. It's a Howard Miller, so a little more contemporary. But can certainly put that in another area, ie. entry.

The photo of the room itself is real. The furniture items are just sketches/graphics.

Option 1 so you can enjoy the TV while you’re in the kitchen or dining room. It’s a great, family friendly layout and fun for social gatherings too. We had a similar set up in one of our homes and it was the best.

Option 1 might work well, however we might suggest doing two sofas or switching the sofa and chairs. Please take a minute to look at a few of the images from our design portfolio for some layout ideas:
