Overhang depth vs cabinet depth

last modified: 3 years ago

In our recent renovation design we have a 12" overhang on our peninsula. This will be counter height and will offer a space for casual eating, homework, hanging out, etc... on stools.
We have a dining room table for proper seating.
Under the overhang we currently have 8" deep cabinets.
Curious to hear thoughts on taking away 1" from the overhang and giving it to the cabinet (making them 9" cabinet depth, with an 11" overhang instead).
My family isn't particularly tall.
Thanks in advance.
....
Please note that this is just one side of the peninsula that I'm describing here (there are cabinets on the other side of this ~47" deep peninsula).
