Question time! So you plan to going with the wood underneath, do you know what kind of wood is underneath? And is it a wood worth working with and to spend the time filling imperfections, fixing damage, sanding and staining? Or something that is worth painting?

They look like this (without all of the carpet staples). I was going to paint the underside white and then bleach and re-stain the top.

where's the LVP? looks like you got it off and the wood looks like something you can work with. Have fun.

Those are oak treads. With lots of manual labor and minimal cost they will look great. Unfortunately none of us know how the current lvp is adhered.

That was after the carpet was pulled off and the LVP was put on. I’m guessing they put the LVP on with construction adhesive. Really, aside from force, I’m wondering if heat (hair dryer) would make it easier. Is there a trick to breaking an adhesive bond?

You won’t know until you try. There are tons of different adhesives. Likely will need to get ground off with an edger…
