@jck910 - its actually a sunrise. What is on there is painted on board, so easily removed. Thanks for your suggestion.

@shirlpp - I think I can paint it (those symbols are just painted on board). To paint over that is easy. You just gave me a great idea: replace the board by hardieboard (same colour as the cedar timbers on the gate) and add the same solar barn lights we have over the gate. thanks for the suggestion.

If you are going to paint the stucco, why not square off the garage opening. I know it is an extra expense, but trying to cover then with cedar might look off over time.

IMO we need to see the house and if western / country is the aim those arches have to go but those addons are all western country . Maybe use them somehwere else fo fun.

@kathleen MK - I thought about that too. I’ve seen some pics on here, and like it, but not sure about the ceiling above garage, if it would allow me to do that. going to think about your suggestion and make some drawings to see how it would look.

@houssaon - that’s an option we’re considering too. There’s too many arches on this home (hacienda style), and not our style. Arches on our porch/balcony are coming down in the spring and replaced by cedar post porch/balcony instead (to match the gate). That was an easier design-decision. Trimming the arches, and then leveling the top to match the top of the garage doors will require a bit of design flex on my end. Great suggestion. thank yiu

@Patricia Colwell Consulting - those addons are painted there, and we do not care for them at all. I see that a lot of comments are to trim the arches, which is a great idea. Just have to see if it’s doable (need to see what’s behind the painted board, and if there’s a supporting beam behind it). Great idea. Thanks
