I posted these for my mom. She's having issues with posting pictures.

These are pictures of the 10' cactus which my daughter downloaded for us.

The 2nd pic is the one stem that's laying sideways on a cabinet.

Whatever the plant in question is, it does NOT appear to be a cactus. Can you post closer photos showing leaf and stem detail?

Wow that's quite a plant! I think that may even be an understatement. That's a monster!

I have no idea what it is. But the part that broke you have two choices as I see it: put it back upright and wrap the break area with some electrical tape and then wrap that to the main trunk to support it and hope that it heals or just cut it off at the break. At that point you can decide what you want to do with it. I don't think that long stem will root by itself. It's too large to generate roots and support all that growth. You may need to either cut the top off and try to plant it in another pot or try planting some of the individual pads in pots.

Hi Again. Think your option of taping together is worth a try. Should we cut a piece of each section off the main trunk and the fallen branch so the 2 ends will heal, regenerate together.

I would not rely on that alone. Removing some of the foliage to start several new plants would be the best insurance against losing all of it.

While doing research, there are different versions of rooting the pads. Either place in water, plant its end in the soil, or even lay pad directly on top of soil. Any suggestions or ideas would be grateful.

Should we cut some of the top foliage stems off? Place end in water to root or plant directly in soil? Does the cut end need to callous first. Any directions would be helpful with any cuttings. Also on the area where stems have been cut, should we put somethingsomethingsomething on the main trunk's wound area. Read something like leaf green

Laying flat has been my most successful method, but I hope you would have heard from someone else with more experience with this kind of plant. My exploits have been infinitesimal compared to this.

A standard rule for cacti/succulent propagation is to let wounds heal before placing as propagations.
