I guess you just go throw the switch on the light if you do not want it. We have an LED light st outr outdoor kitchen but is a plug in one not enough sun where we have the kitchen. Almost all solar lights have a tiny switch.

We have magnetic lights that can be moved to shine on the bbq. We have a light overhead but often need these little lights pointing at the grill. I found them on Amazon. They are battery operated and easy to use
