Those white tables are really too yellow in the room.

What do you think of painting the wall for the TV a darker coordinating color to camouflage the TV? Might that also help the console color. Right now subtle variation is jumping out because there isn't enough contrast in chroma or value.

I like the sofas. Right now they seem a tiny blush, but that could be my monitor. I can't tell if the chair and pillows are dull green or grey...maybe a green-grey? Too many pillows for me too. I like to be able to see a large soft surface of a sofa. I like the brighter blues and greens in the waterscape painting Jan chose. I think chroma contrast is definitely needed.

Thank you for the ideas! If I put a large plant in the corner maybe bamboo. Would artificial from the Houzz store work or should I be using live plants?

I will also take more pictures later today

    Always live plants!!

Other views. Would I need a floor lamp that goes over the long couch or a tall plant in that spot by the window?

There is too much of the same fabric. Try using just the four green pillows on the sofas and put the little lumbar on the chair. Don't use the pillows which go with the ottoman. Save the stuffers. You could keep the ottoman and add a tray. Choose a wicker, natural tray.

Next, a rug to work with the ottoman. Thinking green. The ottoman print should look fine with a simple rug. This one is from PB.

If you can return the t v console, do it. Color isn't the best and it is unimaginative...as my daughter says, it's a "yawn".

Here is the opportunity do something else with the t v wall....more wicker toned entertainment unit.

    P B, too.

Art, use wood frame; no metals and please don't add anything geometric or modern into the mix. You are in Florida and the pattern of the floor is enough angles.

I ordered this rug! Thank you for your comments! Would you add a corner large plant and side table lights or a large standing lamp ?

Renee, you didn't order a 5 x 7 rug did you? Your room requires an 8x10 at a minimum

    PB is Pottery Barn.

Don’t try to use everything in same color. walls/ floors/ furniture… Now rug too. I would try at least remove pillows and get some with colors.

You're headed to .........blah. You may want neutral and that's fine. But neutral needs a lot of texture, changes in tone, finishes .We're trying to help.........

    BLAH BELOW. Sorry....

The rug choice is fine - but all the matching pillows in the same fabric/print as the ottoman is not working. Just leave the ottoman, and get covers for all the other pillows. ANYTHING but that same ottoman fabric. And my choice would be solids in velvet - or maybe velvet and linen. A mix of textures. And find a beautiful piece of art that you love - or a couple of pieces - for wall over the sofa. THE ART DOES NOT HAVE TO MATCH WHAT'S IN THE ROOM. Just find a piece, or pieces, of art that you love.

I might have tried to find a silvery green rug to complement that lounge chair.

I’ll get some colorful accessories to complement.

    Hi Renee!

Your ottoman is very nice and so is the fabric print! Where it's not working IMO is that it's not special anymore when all the same fabric pillows are added. Rooms work best (again IMO) when there's contrast in tone of color, texture, and prints. The sofa, loveseat and chair are also really nice!

Do you mind taking a picture with just the solid pillows, and then the lumbar pillow on the chair? And also a close up of the ottoman fabric?

BTW congrats on your new home!

Please do not go with 50 shades of beige. Get rug with couple colors of your furniture.

I like Kelly Jones idea of rug on a turquoise side, not on green.

Agree that you need color and contrast. The walls are very drab.

I like the subdued teal that Celery suggests just above this post.

I like that as well👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I am about to post pictures as suggested removing the matching pillows to the ottoman and a close up of the ottoman.

Just a thought…do you have a dining room set? Perhaps take the four matching pillows from the couch and loveseat and place them on the backs of your dining chairs. To pull the fabric into another part of the room. Or place two of them on your bed and get new covers for two of them.

Would appreciate lamp suggestions as well.

Yes, much better - the ottoman stands out without all the identical competing fabric pillows on the sofa.

I think picking up the blue/green (?) chair color in the rug would work. The dark tray shows that wood would also work as an end table, instead of the white one. (Is the yellowish white we see in the pictures close to real-life?)

It’s more of a cream color. Any suggestions for a lamp for the top of it?

Is that a navy blue in the ottoman fabric? You might want to pick that color out and search for something in that color.

I have to say - the ottoman fabric is very nice. Beautiful, in fact. And it is better when it is just showcased as the standout piece that it is. Looks great without all the matching pillows. 👌🏼

I agree that navy might be a nice color on a lamp.

One above is more of a smoky blue.

Below, I added in some pillows in blue velvet ( which you don’t have to add blue pillows! ) I’m just showing that you could add more blue to the mix, if you wanted to; but you do not have to. The blue on the lamp(s) is enough for an accent. And the blue works well with the overall color scheme, and also picks up the blue in your ottoman.

And I also like the idea of a black shade. TBH, that was the first thing I thought when I saw your space - a black shade on a table lamp. And then I thought of a navy blue base, with white shade, as another possibility.

As one idea, I think the style on this black-shaded lamp is unique and fun, and also provides a nice combination of elements for your room.

The black shade picks up on your ottoman tray (which that tray is an excellent choice, btw) . The black-shaded lamp helps to further add contrast and dimension to the space. The art that you choose is going to make the room. You need some art to bring it together. And again - choose art that you love. It doesn’t have to match anything in the room.

Also, do not let anyone tell you that black is not for ”Coastal” design; black is a part of some of the shore/nature color palettes and it is used all the time. “Coastal” is not just blues and sands with a bit of coral thrown in, etc. That is one color palette choice, but the Coastal style/palettes are not limited to that. So if you are going for a Coastal type of look and feel, in Florida, having a bit of black in it is fine. And, imo, just about every room could use a touch of black.

So it’s good that you have brought in the black on your tray. And you don’t necessarily need black on your lamp. These are just a couple of ideas/suggestions. It’s of course up to you what your preferences are. For example, if you’d rather not have a black shade - you could also alternatively look at lamps with a black base and white shade. I’ll find an example of that for you.

You’ve made beautiful choices. It’s a nice place!

    ETA: black base.

Thanks for showing the additional pics! I think it looks worlds better without all the ottoman fabric pillows! What do you think?

I still can't tell what color the dots are in the ottoman-is it teal?

Here are some lamps I found at Lamps Plus (some are sold singular and some are sets) that I thought would work well, but you might want to try say HomeGoods or Target, or someplace local to see actual colors and how they look in your space.

I also think every room can benefit from having live plants be a part of the decor.

Some that come to mind are:

    - olive tree

    - monstera -Adansonii

    - Giant White Bird of Paridise- Strelitzia Nicolai

    - Philodendron-Squamiferum

We will be snow birds and only here in the winter months. Leaving April and back in November. Are artificial trees an absolute no no ?

Artificial is fine!! Palms can be very realistic......so too a high quality fiddle leaf fig.

They also abound !! in retail stores in Florida, for that very reason. Snowbirds
