That would not be enough lighting for me and I would need to add several recessed lights.

Sorry, I need to pick 3 light fixtures to replace the old ones that go with my new island pendants. I have 2 out of 5 picked out and havent found any others that go together

If they're not already in your plan, get thyself undercabinet lighting throughout.

Can you clarify where these three fixtures are in relation to the island?

Do those pendants emit enough task light for you? I think when most people choose decorative pendants like that they supplement with recessed lights.

Excuse the mess but all lights are pretty close. You cant see the chandelier in above pic but can see in other pics its not far from island. So you think I should change to all recessed lighting other than pendants?

I don't think you should change. I suggest if the pendants don't emit enough task light you could supplement (add) recessed lights to the kitchen.

That said, I'm not a fan of the lantern style. Too few lumens and the shadows they cast typically make me crazy unless they're in a passing-through space like a foyer.

For any other lights you need get 'faux' or flush cans. 3000Kelvin, 4". You probably want more of them than your current junction boxes but they are easy to install and don't require JBs

The kitchens pictured below are larger than yours, but I included these pictures because they show the recessed lighting. Sometimes recessed lights are photoshopped out of professional photos. The pendants shown would also provide better quality light than a lantern type fixture so if you decide to look at different fixtures you'll have an idea of what might work better. In a small kitchen sometimes it's better to just have recessed lighting and skip the pendants. I don't have pendants and I wouldn't call my kitchen small, but it's not large, either. I don't miss them, and I won't add them when it comes time to remodel. I am just going to have a small chandelier over my kitchen table. The placement of recessed lights is such that the lights illuminate the counters. The best time to have them installed would be now when everything is already torn up.

I think you asking for a style of light to match the (2) island pendants you already have purchased:

- (1) wall mounted light over the sink;

- (1) ceiling mounted outside the kitchen proper where the chandelier was over a table, but now will be open blank floor space;

- (1) ceiling mounted outside the kitchen proper in the hallway in front of a Pantry door.

1. over the sink, wafer style "recessed" if you cant get a remodel recessed there, same with hallway (pantry) light. put in recessed or a similar style light.

3. Are you implying that the only other overhead light in the kitchen will be the one over the sink?

There are a lot of issues with the lack of lighting considering the pendants you chose are shadow casting and will not provide task lighting. Im not trying to be "hurtful", but I dont understand not having a proper lighting plan when you are going through the expense to update your kitchen.
