Has Cheer Powder Been discontinued?

I went to Walmart for Cheer powder that I have been using for darks for 17 years with my FL. There was none on the shelf or on the website except for another seller for $121.75. I last purchased January of 22. Makes me think it is finally gone. Picked up some A & H Clean & Simple, but I'm not fond of liquid. How is Charlie's soap powder or Biokleen? Need something without OB. Thanks.

My walmart had it just a few days ago and the liquid Target also had the powder and liquid. i use Arm and Hammer Clean and Simple and find it works very well and smells fresh and clean , reminds me of detergent scents that are long gone. My Walmart spp shows both powder and liquid cheer avaiable in the store

@MiMi glad to hear that. Never looked at Target. Just weird that it wasn't available on the Walmart website either. I do like how the clothes feel with the Clean & Simple & they smell great. Thanks.

I have been on the P & G website & there is no link when you click on Cheer. I really think it is gone & the liquids have OBs.

I was at Walmart yesterday, and there was only one box of Cheer powder on the shelf. It was open, and is the same one that has been there for at least 1 month.

AFAIK, the new version of Cheer liquid still does NOT contain OBAs.

Check Walmart's website. It is showing in stock at our area store.

I checked our local Walmart via on-line and they had it available for $123.75! They did have various Tide, Gain and other brands for much more reasonable costs. Checked Target and they had no Cheer powder.

It's still available at my local Walmart and big-box grocery. You can buy three 80 load boxes from WebstaurantStore.

My local Walmart has Cheer powder (80-load boxes), although only two or three on the shelf as usual. I bought one an hour ago. The local/regional grocery chain also has it ... per their website, I didn't go there to confirm.

Several times over the years the same rumor about Cheer being discontinued circulates and me fearful about it I make a small stock purchase. I just picked up a couple boxes this past Wednesday from a local Walmart. Ordered 4, they only had 2. Seems to be par for the course for Walmart stock ;)

armjim - i saw that overpriced box from a third party vendor too. But the website showed regular boxes in the store for a normal price. YMMV

This at the local/regional grocery chain, approx 2 hrs ago. I bought one.

Cavimum, for my zip code it showed the regularly priced boxes out of stock. Wondering if it is a supply chain issue and not that they are discontinuing the product?

My Walmart online only shows the box for $123.75 from a 3rd party. Prices are high on Amazon also. The deal on Web Restaurant Store is good, but I didn't look up the shipping. On the whacky P & G website, the cheer link takes you to the general detergent page & not to a branded page like Tide & the others. I guess time will tell.

@MiMi thank you so much for mentioning the Arm & Hammer Clean and Simple. I bought a bottle with my Walmart pickup order and was thrilled with the scent. It reminds me of Fab lemon borax. It appears that there is only one version and it's liquid and also states 'Crisp Clean' on the lower right of the label, which I suppose is the fragrance name. Haven't used it, so I can't comment on performance.

@TBL from CT you’re welcome i find it to be a good performing detrrgent, I hope you get good results also If you use scent beads they make one to match i just love the scent of both

I called P&G customer support today and was told that Cheer powder has been discontinued. :-(

This remains at the local grocery, two hours ago.

Did you get some for your stock dadoes?

Sad times in powder detergent world. Cheer powder was a good and loved detergent. I've lost too many powder detergents over the years. Very few to choose from now.

I tried to find it at Walmart yesterday (which prompted my call to customer support). They did not have any boxes on the shelves and I did not see space or a sticker for it. I’ve used this detegent for years, so I’m hopeful that maybe customer support just gave me incorrect information.

Things are worse here in Canada when it comes to powder detergents, IMHO. I only know of two currently being sold here - regular Tide and Sunlight (and Sunlight powder is getting harder and harder to find).

I would wager that Cheer must have become a low selling product and that is why it is being discontinued. Maybe the packaging had something to do with it. Tide and Gain still resemble the boxes from decades earlier and for mass marketing appeal that means something. If powder would become impossible to find and only liquids or pods were available, it would mean many of us would have to change the way we respond to using them exclusively. This will be one more interesting development to watch.

Cheer powder is gone in my area also.

But Walmart had the liquid so I picked it up.

Very sad, I used it for years & loved it! Can't find Cheer liquid at my grocery, so will have to check Walmart.

I was able to order two boxes at two different Wm's a week ago. But now it isn't shown online at any store in my city.

There is still plenty at my local HEB

I’m on my last stockpiled box of Cheer powder that I was able to purchase at HEB last year. Has anyone been lucky enough to find any since? Even the powder formulation of All Free and Clear is not available at this time. Is there a good alternative now?

I tried to find Cheer powder at a few local HEBs for you but struck out.

HEB here has been out of Cheer powder for months. Last purchases were 2/2023 and 7/2023 (both boxes remain unopened). I should have gotten a couple more.

Has anyone found a color safe (no OBs) alternative to Cheer powder?
