Large format ceramic tile with mitered edge for shower bench/curb – ba

Hello,

We are in the middle of a master bath gut remodel. I bought this beautiful large format (23 x 59“) ceramic glazed wall tile for the shower walls. I was planning on using it for the shower walls/niche, bench and curb, but my contractor raised concerns about the durability of a mitered edge for the bench/curb and prefers I go with a stone slab. What are your thoughts, are his concerns valid? Is ceramic more likely to chip if mitered ? And can it not be used in this type of application? I researched schluter edge, and it’s not the look I’m going for. Thanks in advance.
