I totally understand your enjoyment of pruning! I too enjoy the thrill of getting the framework exposed and organized for spring. Here is one of my ZD roses on a trellis by my door.

Heavens, you guys are orderly. Recently I've been engaged in a battle to prune various elements of the shade garden back into bounds (not roses: yews, arborvitae, pyracantha...). Thank goodness DD finished her exams and came home for a quick break, because I had wrecked my body and really needed to walk and talk for a change. Once the exercise has straightened my frame out and my overworked hands and pectorals have had a rest, it will be back to work.

I love all kinds of gardening, pruning too. I just wish there weren't quite so much of it.
