Jilly, I've narrowed the wallpaper search down to several papers from Adelphi Paper Hangings. They have historical patterns from exactly the right era. I was leaning toward toile before, but now I'm considering a couple that are a complete departure (though still very Federal). Thanks for asking!

Sabrina Alfin Interiors, I love the link you provided, and that rich, sinuous William Morris look is really gorgeous, but I have to be careful not to steer too much into mid-Victorian, since the style of my house is very late 1700s/early 1800s. If you look at the "Plain English" style of kitchen, it's that sparer, understated Georgian style I'm aiming for, though I'm not above prettifying the "Plain" part of it a bit!

I love the Pillow field tile with clipped corners (#649), which I could use with a contrasting Fancy Beaded Button (#631H) at the corners. They seem to make lots of colors, plus great border pieces too! The one thing I couldn't find was a pricing sheet, even with an online search. I'm a little worried that "luxury tile" and "hand crafted" might mean it's as out of my budget as the Abigail tile. Do you know what a ballpark price range might be?

I am currently priced some quemere tiles and a detailed subway was around $40 mark and 3x12 subway was $30 mark. Im not sure Im choosing it yet. Still wairing for a color sample to make my final decision.

I also find that location dictates price. Im in NY, so things tend to be priced higher here. Quemere is made and based out of CT, but their delaers obviously add a profit when they sell it. , and I find it is always a higher upcharge here. I think you will fall under or at your 50 mark. definitely worth you looking into.

I'm no real help, but I LOVE that first tile you showed! It looks like little pillows.

Pointing out something you may not have considered: Those tiles are set at a 90 degree angle, and that's going to require more skill /cost more than tile "set straight". Yeah, I know, that's not what you want to hear, but no one wants you to choose THE TILE, then realize you have another larger-than-expected bill coming.

I love luxury.......and let me tell ya when I'd pay 44.00 for a "pillowy" single tile! this side of NEVER.

Not unless it was used among plain field......and limited to behind the cook.

Mrs Pete, thanks for the heads up about the extra cost. I've read that using a diagonal/diamond pattern should add $2 to $4 per square foot for installation, but my backsplash won't be big enough to make that prohibitive.
