I found these photos in your ideabook. They are so pretty and would be an excellent starting point for inspiration. If your flooring continues under the island, I would straighten the orientation. The angled placement looks awkward to my eye.

As far as the baskets above the fridge I really like that idea. That is something easy that I can do now until I get a plan for the cabinets above the fridge. I’m not sure why the builder has the cabinets like this. I just had some work done in my cabinets and I’ll inquire about that.

A rug sounds but I have kids and the crumbs would drive me crazy but I do think it would warm up the space nicely.

Just a plug for the paper tapestries at Anthropologie -they are huge and a total steal (I am always suggesting them lol)

I really like the earthy colors in the paper tapestries la_la Girl posted. They would work well with a natural vibe like this kitchen. Wood hardware on your cabinets and rattan light fixtures could get you started.

Two things I see that would bother me. One is your trash can at the end of your cupboards. Put it inside of your cupboards or out of sight somewhere. And you need over the counter lights...that go under your top cabinets to shine on your work space. Put your things on your refrigerator in a basket and stow it inside your cupboards. Have you thought of pendant light over your sink and two more over your bar. If you are getting stools the light would be good.

I’d look into doing a larger crown on top of the cabinets.
