Exterior Color advice

Hi -

We would appreciate some advice on stain color for decking amd decorative trusses. Our house is a chalet style lake house with grey vinyl siding, a lot of decking, large wood posts and decorative trusses. The grey siding was the only acceptable color available when we built due to covid supply chain issues. I am having trouble picturing what color would go with it. I am not a fan of rustic but my contractor and husband convinced me we had to have the trusses. I am hoping with color, I may like them more and they will be in harmony with all the other wood, the grey siding, white soffit, black gutters and black spindles. I am also in need of a color for the fromt door. My overall prefernce is somewhat more of a modern or transitional look.

Taking into account both front view and lake view (large deck), what would you suggest to pull it all together? Ive attached pictures. Please note, we haven't begun to landscape yet but am open to suggestions there too :) Thank you for any advice.

I love the really dark stain on these examples.

This one is a tad lighter but seems to be similar to your deck ceilings. You might try to match the tone of your exterior ceilings.

Cedar/wood seems to mean a lot of different shades when I look it up. Did you have one in mind?

The back of the house is beautiful! I assume you have a lovely lake view. 😍

The lavender/gray was a sad choice IMO, and it makes the cedar accents look off. I see that the rear of the house has lots of cedar but the front doesn’t, which contributes to the cedar accents looking random, dropped in from another planet.

Can you paint the siding? A much deeper gray (if you like gray) would look better, but my preference would be sage green.

the actual siding color is similar to picture 3 but taken with a poor quality phone so I can see how you get lavender tone. No way do we want the added maintenance of painting the siding so we are stuck working with it. As the house is a year old all the wood is unfinished. i am looking for a color scheme that works to try and harmonizes it as best as possible. I also dont know if it’s a one color solution. For example, do i do the floor boards the same color as up rights. What about the overhang ceiling? The rails etc.
