I have never tried, but they do self sow and anything that self sows readily should be a candidate. I think I would still nick the seeds first to help them along.

Did you try it, frances? If so, how did they do? I also have limited space under my lights, which I use to start my vegetable garden. But four-oclocks are on my wish list this coming season, after seeing some beautiful ones that my neighbor bought.

They do excellent wintersowing for me. But as promiscuous as they are, just dropping them on the ground works well too.
