Hi Everyone,

Our roof needs to be replaced and we’ve decided to extended it over the front porch, providing us a nice place to sit during the summer months. We’re in the process of having plans drawn up by an architect but as I’m sure you’re all aware, these projects have a way of snowballing out of control since everything is connected.

Since I won’t get this opportunity again for at least another 20 years, I really want to upgrade the exterior now to enhance its curb appeal. The architect suggested fiber cement siding but I’m not sure that’s what I want to use. I really want to sit down with someone and explore all the options available (roofing, siding, etc…). I get the vibe he isn’t really interested in this area because he always brings it back to fiber cement siding. That very may well be what I end up with, but I’m the kind of person who needs to turn over a few stones in order to make a final decision. I definitely don’t make up my mind at the first option suggested.

I’ve been searching for an exterior designer in my area but have so far come up empty handed. Does anyone know of an exterior designer on Long Island that could help me? I’m in Nassau County.
