looks aside...just verify the fridge isnt in the lower right corner...but is on the left wall . you can use the two counter selections because the size of the space is so large...the bit of flecks in the perimeter choice isnt any deal breaker. I guess w nordic white cabinets that perimeter counter makes sense. here is nordic white......it is a lot of white ......to draw something out of the island top for another shade for counters or lower cabinets in a color would be nice..... but the slab you favour is really a bit of creamier white w all gray/black / no other colors like greens/ blues/ copper/ .....you'll have all white w the accent on the island as basically grayish . i'm hoping this is your preference and you realize what a large amount of this [white and grayish] you will be installing. ...judging from the inspiration you're good w it.

That slab is gorgeous! Have you considered using wood cabs for the island? Or something other than white.

@herbflavor That's the oven. The fridge is on the left side near the doorway with the small counter. Photos arent great but the white in the marble is the same tone as the white in the quartzite. I'll probably do a blue or blue-green hood for some added color. I can't think of any way to add color to the perimeter counters that wouldn't be too busy or too dark. If I go with the quartzite, it will have to be the star. I would love to use it behind the hood but I think that requires doing the perimeter in the same stone. I'm afraid if I do that it'll look like all the busy granites we used to love but now hate!

@amykath Cabinets are a done deal. I wanted to do a mix of white and wood but DH was emphatic NO!

I decided against the Ijen Blue shown above because it really is a showcase piece and I don't have a large, uninterruped island on which to show it off. We'll be installing a Kohlers Stages sink which will break up that gorgeous design and it would be totally lost on the perimeter. Instead, we'll be using another Ijen Blue I had found earlier on all counters and behind the hood (pictured below). It's not as striking but I think it'll still look great. Thanks!

@cheri127 do you have pictures of your finished kitchen? We are getting ready to start a remodel and I have picked honed Ijen Blue and starting to have a last minute spiral if I'm making a mistake and looking for all pictures! Thanks!
