Looks like some form of magnolia to me.

Possibly a Gardenia thunbergia? But many white flowered small trees in Florida. Hard to tell. Need closer shot of foliage, flower, and perhaps of other flowers to get a better sense of the number and arrangement petals, stamens, etc. What is the leaf arrangement? Opposite or alternate?

Sorry it's the best I could do. I was across town in the parking lot behind Aldi. I stopped my car to take a few quick snaps.

I thought maybe a magnolia as well, but they're usually scented, aren't they?

P.S. I looked up Gardenia thunbergia and it really does look like it, but there was no scent...?

P.P.S. I just read that they are more scented at night, which I wondered about, but I'm also not about to drive over there during the night to find out!

It looks like Magnolia to me too, but not one that I know. Their flowers are not scented to my memory.

FWIW, the flowers of magnolias growing here - the classic ones with huge white blooms, big glossy leaves and 'cones' full of red seeds - have a very strong, sort of lemony fragrance.

Gardenia thunbergii, imo.

Not a plant I am familiar with but I'm changing my opinion as well. Flower looks a lot more like the gardenia than it does a magnolia that would be inclined to flourish in FL.

Some magnolias have a very strong fragrance and others have little to none.

The branching pattern and long tubular corolla and buds are also indicative. I think I can see a spherical fruit too.

It looks like a Thaitian Gardenia that I had once. The flower anyway.

The branches and the leaves accompany the flower in shouting Gardenia thunbergia.
