Help Redecorating - ideas?

Looking for some decorating ideas for this 12’x14’ north facing room with vaulted ceiling.
I’m purging all furniture (except for wooden hutch-I may paint), drapes, removing the art, repainting and refurnishing. Basically a blank palette.
This room, (rarely used) is next to our foyer and kitchen.
I’m looking to create a cozy inviting comfortable space for me to relax in, I’d like it to have an artsy element with some fun details. I’ll be hanging my own art so I can customize as needed.
I’d like to include burnt orange/sienna as the accent color. I’m struggling with:
The wall color. The remainder of our house is done in earth tones (browns, muted mustard). The color changes dramatically depending which wall the color swatch is on. Green and green hues are out.
Furniture type and layout.
So many choices. I’m suddenly overwhelmed.

I love the current warm white as a base…could you please show us some of your artwork…furnishings should complement your art

I like the light paint as well.

I think I’d keep the sofa lighter in color, if that works practically.
And bring in color from the art. And a large, nice rug….
    Pillows…

My first thought was to tell you not to get rid of the the wood back arm chair. its unique and really pretty.

Beverly, your ideas are spot on! Thank you. The problem I face is room size and furniture layout. I’d prefer to keep the furniture off the exterior walls and cuddle it into the middle. I may only have room for maybe a loveseat and a couple of chairs and perhaps an ottoman in the middle. Not sure yet.
I’ve been grabbing paint chips for the last two days trying to find the right color. Every color beige from Sherwin Williams. (Insert eye roll here)I feel like goldie locks- too greeny, too dark, too browny….. waiting for that ah hah moment of just right…Currently leaning toward Kilim beige. Slightly darker than current walls but a nice warm hue.
RL, I wish I could find a home for the furniture but currently it’s looking like it will be a donation, chair included.
As for the art, I will likely custom make the pieces for the room. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate it.

Oh, another question regarding the drapes. The current set up is going. I want to hang long panels on the sides of the windows. Should I look for the special short rod for this set up so I’m not staring at a long expanse of rod. And what is the technical term for those?

Futon type on the window side?

With all the architectural features i would get a little more creative on the wall color…perhaps vary the shade or depth of the colors on the different angles and planes….and with your description of how you want to use the room i sort of lean to much darker or brighter colors in this room…creating an almost ..cave like ..retreat …very few furnishings ..facing and close to the window…perhaps..with the view as the focal point…no curtains…but perhaps pull down shades for needed privacy? Or even hand painted scenes on fabric or shades for curtains?

Once you have established what else you want to do in the room you can add the things needed for that…

What a nice room. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. I'd be tempted to try your current sofa in front of the window to see if you like something long in there. I know I like a sofa long enough that I can lay down and read a good book on a rainy day. When I'm redecorating a room I like to play with my current furniture first before I buy anything new. Sometimes just relocating a few things and adding a few new accessories makes it look fresh. You could also try leaving the curtain rod but removing the valance part and see if you like it.

Here are my suggestions which include reframing some of your art to small black metal frames for a more contemporary look...
