Market collapsing? Hardly!! It is simply stabilizing or reacting to current conditions.

There are more than a few misplaced assumptions in this premise:

• the "houseplant market" is limited to only so-called "rare" plants
• collectors are selling them off for some unknown reason - if so, can they even be considered "collectors"?
• falling prices are reflective of falling demand

None of these are accurate. The accumulation of rare or uncommon houseplants is a very minor share of the houseplant market and sales remain strong for houseplants in general. True collectors collect and generally add to their collections, not sell them off! Declining prices reflect increased availability, which is a good thing, making these plants more widely obtainable by the general public and not just to those who value their plants only by how much they might be worth.
