We see hundreds of kitchens that look just like yours. What is happening in the rest of the home that would warrant changing the kitchen? Realize this is a slippery slope and once you do the kitchen, all the rest of the room will follow.

Are you going to stay long enough for the money spent to be worth it? Your kitchen looks fine. The light fixture is woefully dated, but that's an easy fix.

Maybe if you change the accent color to dark charcoal it will give your kitchen enough of a lift.

Start w a quote to paint the uppers / at the same time get new MDF doors in a simple raised panel to work w lower cabs....you can pick your white shade for the uppers which will work for a new look for the space. If you want..along w light fixture shown by Beverly get a new soapstone slab for island top. I would leave the base cabinets alone..you have drawers and everything looks pretty good as far as nice tone on the wood cabs.....the arches on the upper does kind of say "time for a change" altho the tone and grain is quite pleasing. You have standard sized doors so getting new/ ready to paint doors is not difficult.

I like your cabinets, you could just upgrade the knobs, go darker so they show up in contrast. Changing the lighting fixture would change the feel, wood is in. If it was me, i would start by changing the light bulbs in the recessed fixtures to something a little less orange, closer to 3k led bulbs to lessen the orange feel in the room. Id consider adding maybe 4 recessed lights inside the ceiling perimeter, and then do two pendants over one island light.

I'd paint the cabinets a soft white, replace the hardware with handles on the uppers in either black or satin nickel and update the light fixture with something like this.

That's the quick and easy fix. But, if you want a different more transitional look, I'd reface the cabinets because the arch in the uppers gives a more dated look. I spent a very long time debating a similar issue in my kitchen and just decide to reface. It was a good choice for me, but depends on your budget etc...

Here are some more pictures of my kitchen since the other picture didn’t show everything. My house is mostly farmhouse/ rustic. I would like to keep the feel and just elevate it a bit. I am also adding a picture of a kitchen I saw that I really like. If you see anyways to incorporate elements of this kitchen into mine, I would greatly appreciate it.
