Are you looking for total privacy or do you want to keep kids and dogs in or merely define your space?

If your purpose is simply to define the edge of your property and create a boundary, consider a zig zag or snake fence made of stacked Timbers. Since we can’t really see the front of your home, and have a glimpse of a wooden privacy fence (your neighbor’s?) in the distance, we can’t really see what style might be appropriate.

It depends on what function you want the fence to perform. Please state that.

This is the fence we have that encloses rhe back yard. thibkinf of doing same kind, but not as high.

So then you want the fence it run all along the drive way or are you putting a gate at the end of the driveway? We still need to understand where you want the fence. Do you have a backyrd that you could fence instead?Are you planning on fencing the whole prperty? I usually like a simple fence out in the country .IMO a big solid fence is not attractive at the front of a property , maybe keep the front open and put a latch on the back one that the kids can't open . This type of fence is what I usually like for large properties so you can still see the house and the nnice landscaping .IMO then the kids are safe in the back yard but still a nice look for the front and of course to fence the kids in a fence woulf need to run on both sides of the driveway and you would do that or an electric gte across the end of the drive

A simple 3-board fence backed with wire to the ground would contain small children, and dogs. It's relatively inexpensive, and suits a rural setting. I assume you'd run it along the driveway, to the road, then back to meet up with some backyard fence?

A big caveat: kids can climb fences, scramble under fences, or otherwise figure out how to get out. Dogs can escape too, but kids are easier to train! :-)

LOL really ??? Our dogs learn the rules much better than our kids ever did we had 3 boys.

I suggest you continue a fence similar to what you already have which looks nice with your house, lower if that's what suits your need but in the same style & colour as existing one.

Would love to have it gated and entire fencw around the house. but we reslly need that side yard blocked - street is busier. we thouht about putting a black iron fence too. but not sure if that goes well with house.

Modern style house…modern style fencing…in wood or metal. Metal may need less upkeep.
If you have small children or animals, keeping them inside and safe is necessary, so no openings large enough for a dog or small child to escape, or a neighbor dog to get into your yard.

LOL Patricia C.C, that reminds me of a story. Dear daughter was 18 months old, romping through the park with our friend's two very nice, well trained, friendly labs. Friend became concerned all were straying too far, yelled in best Voice Of Command: "SIT"! Dear daughter promptly and obediently Sat, the dogs kept going.
