While I think BC sells some of the most beautiful appliances Ive ever seen, I would NOT go with them for your future induction range. If you have any hopes of ever getting service support short or long term, there are much better options.

Yes, you are completely crazy to buy from a company that you are currently describing one of their products as a lemon. Big Chill is a fashion statement. Spend your money wisely by investigating induction ranges and buying on with excellent reviews and low repair calls.

I hear you. I was hoping to hear from a few people that might have used them and could share their experience. Even that small sampling wouldn't be enough.

The question then is if you were buying a 30" induction range today what would it be?

If I were buying one today I would head over to Yale Appliance Blog and read everything and watch every video they have posted. I don't shop there - they only serve the Boston area, but find their resources to be excellent for decision making around appliances.

If it were me, at 30”, I’d look at Miele, Bosch, Electrolux, maybe Fulgor. But make sure your range can be serviced in your area.

Big Chill is just Bluestar with a prettier wrap. Lots of positive press about Bluestar, as they produce a great product.

You should seriously consider going with blue star instead of big chill. Your warranty and support during and after the warranty period will actually exist, which is far more than you will find if you go with big chill. Research here and you will find lots of threads of people who got burned after purchasing big chill appliances. (pun intended).

I have a Big Chill induction range, installed about 6 months ago. The indication top has been excellent. In addition to looks we love the knobs/ no visible electronic displays. The oven i would say IS iffy, have had warranty out (no issues at all getting response and sending local company to come out) 3x for indicator light coming on at random times, and also not reliably indicating temperature reached. this is made by BlueStar. i read dozens of reviews before purchasing, all ranges at all proce points seem to have reliablity problems these days.

If space allows i would consider a separate induction top, and a reliable wall oven. if you can live with stainless and the looks, Ikea's range is a Frigidaire with a longer warranty.

I have an ILVE induction range from Italy and I love it. It performs wonderfully and the top looks brand new 2 yrs later because I followed advice and only clean with hot water and a soft cloth. Has power feature on all burners for quick boil, responds immediately when you change the temperature dial and great convection oven and a warming drawer.

Kraig- what did you end up going with? I'm currently where you were 7 months ago. Looking for vintage-style range (electric oven; undecided between gas or induction) that can kick up a good sear or simmer on low and NOT have a tech out every other month.
