front porch decor ideas

Hi! Any suggestions on how you would add final touches / decor to our front porch? Please note furniture will stay as is (open to new pillows). Thank you!!!

Can you post a picture showing the entire front of the house?

You need some landscaping. Something planted across the front of the porch to soften all the asphalt & concrete. Then NO DECOR on porch. Just pretty chair cushions. Maybe paint the front door a color (just the door not the sidelight).

This is a nice blue with the gray

thank you, all! Thoughts about something like this?

    -two XL planters

    -two XL colorful hanging baskets

-painting front door black (!!!) to break up all the gray and white with a colorful wreath?

@laurab401 Your mockup is great. It’s a bit too symmetrical for me - I’d like one of the tall pots over next to entry door & a colorful mat at the door. I wouldn’t mind a third chair either - doesn’t have to match. Or, place a third planter of a different size & color next to the one at far end of porch - which should be closer to end of porch & away from chairs. Landscaping in ground would definitely amp up the look. Lastly I would widen that walkway from driveway to porch from its current starting point. Pull it out even with post pillar at the point it starts to curve off the driveway.

I especially love the hanging colors! And, yes, too symmetrical for me. I personally don’t care for door wreaths or decorations (except for Christmas), by that’s me. You have a lovely home with a welcoming porch and you’re on the right track if you add some color.

Love the black door. I like the symmetrical set up because you have that post that's not centered on the window

@laurab401 I missed that pic you show with the two doors on porch. Is that door with oval window an ADU separate living quarters & so also a main entry?

Thank you! it is a secondary main entry into the house @KW PNW Z8

I think the biggest impact would be enclosing and adding color by landscaping. The seating feels lost and you‘ll achieve a more cozy/private area and increase curb appeal.

    Cushions, indoor/outdoor rug, lantern.

Blacks doors, mat, planters; ensure entire frontage feels coordinated.

Since everything in the area of your front porch is asymmetric (not a complaint, an observation. I LOVE asymmetry) I would play that up. Move the seating group a bit towards the front door, not right under the window. Add a tall, large black planter and another identical, but slightly less tall planter to the farish right side of the porch- taller planter on the right of the other. Add tons of colorful plants in just those two planters. Perhaps a coordinating rug pulling out a contrast color to the house from your plantings. And yes to a black or navy or….orange! front door.
