Ive had solid experiences with Jennair Buit-ins like the 48 in model you describe and the 48 in size helps to alleviate issues with narrower sizes of SxS fridges. I share your lack of enthusiasm for the black interior, but FYI, they make this same model under the Kitchenaid brand in either Stainless or panel ready and the interior is an elegant silver color (they call it platinum). The only notable technical difference I can discern is that the hinges on the Jennair allow for a more flush, “integrated look” whereas the KA version has more of the traditional or classic Built-in commercial feel. My favorite feature on either if these though is the variable speed compressor they use which is one of the most quiet runnimg you can find in a modern day fridge!

Yes, both the Jennair and Kitchenaid versions of the units that Im thinking of are top compressor models. This is because if you want 48” SxS, they only come with a top mount compressor if you go with a SxS fridge. To get a bottom mount design, you would have to revisit the option of columns. Jennair has a line of columns with bottom mount compressors though I dont know how their pricing or promotions compare with Thermador’s. Oh, I do now remember that on the Jennair 48 ” buit-ins, you wont see the compressor section even though it is top mounted because the panels that mount to the doors go all the way up whereas on the Kitchenaid version, there is a separate top panel that covers the compressor separatelly and is more noticeable. If you want a 48” SxS but also want the integrated look of those bottom compressor columns, then the Jennair is the only option that I know of. The Jennair also has a different hinge design that allows it to look a bit more flush or integrated. Here is an illustration of what Im speaking of if you scroll through the images at ABT appliances, you can see, when the doors are open, how the panels go all the way up to the top; hiding the compressor seamlessly vs the more traditional built-in look of the Kitchenaid (and most other built-in brands).
