Most of the Pax system is attached to the walls not the floor but either way no rrason to not be able to design the closet now and add the new floor later just make sure you remove all the flooring where the new closet goes. Sometimes you just have to do things when you can afford it. BTW I love Pax

@ Patricia Thanks, that’s helpful. I see that Pax attaches to the wall but my thinking was that it still rests on the floor, I think? With that in mind, if we install the closet system before the floor, my thinking was that we would not install new floor under the closet boxes. - it’d just be bare. Is that considered acceptable? We’re not looking to resell, just don’t want to mess things up.

I would definitely want flooring under the closet system. otherwise you are wedded to that closet design and cant change it.

I think it's fine to put it on the subfloor.

When you redo the floors, you always have the option of removing the closet system and reinstalling. (At that point you consider instead shoving extra flooring in storage somewhere and leave it as a future problem. 😁)
