I need help maximizing the corner of our small living room. we want to swap the chair out with a swivel chair, but need help with all this clutter and dead space. some storage is ideal, but also want it to better blend with the rest of the room.

can you back up and take a whole room shot? context is everything

(btw, your two pics are spaced too far apart. bring down the top one to where there is only 1-2" between the bottom one)

Can we see the rest of the room corners are not decorated in a vacuum they are part of a whole space . Art gets hung after the space is done usually

    Added pics of full room!

I’d want the scale of the table and lamp to work with the couch, so I’d do a larger round table with a nice chunky lamp (room and board‘s Serena is my go to)

for more storage I’d think about shallow closed storage on the fireplace wall

Is this the main play area for the toddler or small children?

For your corner, I would put a large square end table and move the chair so it and the couch both nearly touch the table.

Corner: Suggest buying the swivel chair (not bulky) and then address the corner. In reality, I can’t see getting much storage there and will only clutter it up. Adding a table would be a better choice and to ground that area, add large art over the chair and tighten up the distance between the two prints. Could feel something like this but in reverse.

Storage: The walls adjacent to the fireplace would be ideal for extra storage and also help balance the wall.

Console area: storage might be handy.

I would look for shelving or units to put on the fireplace wall for kid storage before even thinking of another chair.

Thank you! yes it is the main play area for kids & our functional living room

Looks like you have a little one in the house and that oftens brings a lot of toys laying around., so you could add a cabinet in corner to house some of those items. I like the arch as it mimics the arched doorway. If you wanted to add more storage you could add an upholstered storage ottoman (could have a tray top that still functions as a table, that might also lighten up the space a bit. Wicker baskets are great to be able to throw loose items/toys in too.

I would consider replacing your coffee table with a storage ottoman, lots available online, from nicer ones at Room & Board to less expensive ones elsewhere. Looks like you need the storage space.

I'd consider a table and a lamp for layered lighting as well as another place to put drinks. Overhead lighting isn't flattering or cozy. (It looks like you got lucky and found a pretty and solid, vintage ranch with wood-burning fireplace!)
