I have a 4 season / sunroom porch on the rear of my house that I pulled ancient outdoor carpet up from today.

My initial plan was to have porcelain tile and use an decoupling underlay to prevent cracking from the concrete floor from transferring to the tile.

Finishing my carpet pulling “fun”, I discovered 2 hair line stress cracks and what looks like the concrete slab pulled away from the brick of the house (this used to be a concrete porch outside until it was finished in the early 90s).

My question is, can I still tile over a gap like this? I’m assuming I’d just want to fill with backer rod and a flexible synthetic caulk. But will this just be setting myself up for a headache and issues later?

I’m also open to laminate vinyl Lifeproof flooring, but again… same issue and I need to finish this nicely up against a brick wall.

My final option would be just return to carpet and find a nice quality outdoor carpet, which seems like the easiest way to prevent myself a future headache… until someone spills something on it at my next backyard BBQ.
