This wood is cedar, select tight knot. it was knottier than we had hoped, and would recommend going up a grade. It's maintained by sealing regularly with a clear, matte sealer, no stain. Regularly will mean different things depending on the climate and the solar orientation. It is sealed much more often than one would paint a painted wall.
