What is the style of your home and would arches go with it?  If Tuscan/ Mediterranean,  then yes,  consider arches.  You'll have to decide on where you want a full arch or eyebrow arch.

Without knowing the actual style of your house I would advise against adding arches in the interior. Chances are it will look contrived and just be unnecessary decoration.

If the architectural character of your house is strong, as it should be, no extra icing is needed on the cake...

Do you mean arches, or cased openings?

Catbuilder’s question is spot on. Do you mean a cased opening (trimmed out with wood) or an actual arch, trimmed out in wood or plaster? I cannot understand why you would want to highlight your mudroom with an actual arch. Could you post a photo of your “inspiration?”

I would rethink the master bedroom design ... most people wouldn't want to enter their master bedroom through a closet. If you were changing clothes and someone opened the door, you would be completely visible from several rooms in the house.

To prevent sore necks here is your plan:

Arches would work for certain regions and styles of architecture so we need to see the exteror elevations and local environment.

If in doubt omit them.

We'd need to see elevations of the exterior to see if arches make sense on the interior. What is the style of this home?

Our architect added arches to our outdoor two -story addition to conceal support posts. We loved them and repeated them indoors in a bathroom renovation.

Many houses near me have arches between entryway and livivgroom or between LR and DR. i think they look nice. but propsed areas seem a little random, rather than intentional part of design? in absence of other arches… most people want a door on the pantry and i’m frankly not sure how you are even going to reach anything in the pantry?? i’m also a little confused by walking into the closet in main bedroom.

I would be less worried about arches and more worried about the functionality of the floor plan. How will use that pantry? It is not functional. And why would you want to walk into your closet to get to your master bedroom? No shower in the master bath? Also what is going on with the laundry room? Is there an actual washer and dryer in there?

Your master bedroom may also not meet the egress requirements since you have to go through 2 doors to get out. And there's almost no hanging space in an area this big.

There are lots of issue here- as pointed out - the laundry layout is problematic - you can't open the washer as it's behind a cabinet.

No shower in the master - and as noted who wants to walk into a closet.

The storage area is in the front corner of the house?

As a FYI-

1. This is a custom house build in the country side of the Dominican Republic.

2. This plan was more for measurements than design. We are still working on the design plan… so things might look a little off here.

3. The master closet will have closed wardrobes.

4. The exterior look we would like is a modern Mediterranean, but we are still deciding. And I guess that was my question if we go with a modern Mediterranean look where would you add the aches?…. Anyway… thanks again everyone.

Everyone else's question is, what is "modern Mediterranean"?

Modern Mediterranean would have to simplify a whole lot more to get to Modern, and add a whole lot more architectural character to be Mediterranean. The two things sound in opposition to each other, but they are not. Strong architectural character, where the emphasis is on the form itself, doesn't need adornment. Less is more. That Form needs to be THE thing.
