Exterior Paint Help Needed

Front faces NE, back is SW overlooking lake. I’ve always wanted a White House. Railings on porches will be black. Need help with siding and garage doors and shutters for the front.

The brick is called Cordoba by Meridian. It has ivory mortar. There will be white columns on the back upper porch.

Are you painting the brick or just the siding. I assume it’s the brick if you want it white. Romabio makes a great mineral paint that is designed for use on masonry products. Off whites usually look better than true whites. Sometimes light grays or beiges are best, so they aren’t too washed out in exterior light. I’m not one for a bright white, but with your black roof you probably don’t want to go too earthy either.
    Here are some good pointers

Once you’ve narrowed it down to a few, get sample pots and paint large boards to hold up next to your house (hopefully you have some leftover shingles to put next to it) to see how the light behaves in different areas.

If facing northeast, I may lean toward warmer whites like SW Alabaster or Greek Villa. But test!

If you’re not painting the brick, I would go for something to work with the pink. Not white.

I’m painting the siding. The brick is not pink. It’s a mixture of neutrals, beige, grey, cream, white and tan.

Sorry, must be my monitor. I would pick out a color from the brick or even the mortar itself. Your painter may have a paint deck he can loan you, or go to the paint store with a brick and pick up several paint chips. Once you've narrowed down, get sample pots and paint a big board and hold up next to the brick. If you want white, matching the ivory mortar may work well. For example, Navajo White may be great match to the mortar. Everything looks lighter outside.

Thanks. I do have a sample of the mortar I can take to the paint store.

Looks pink to me too. Choosing a complementary color should be done by looking at how the brick appears OVERALL, not by an upclose examination. I think your particular color mix gives a pink appearance. Therefore, I’d choose a warm white to go with it. Or simply match your mortar.

NO shutters on the front. There’s lots and lots of windows - there’s minimal room for shutters and they really shouldn’t be applied to double or triple windows.

Agree about the shutters - I missed that comment. Your home style would work better without shutters. Your windows cover enough surface area without needing them for aesthetics.
