I used all LED 4000K replacement bulbs to replace all my halogen mR16s so 4" pots and I do not like itegral fixtures since replacing bulbs happens even with LEDs and I think buying a bulb is preferable to buying a new fixture which BTW could be discontinued when you need it.

I can't agree with you more. I also don't like the idea that you're taking this fixture out of housing/hole in sheetrock - puts stress on the sheetrock and I bet you it shows over time. Can you share with me what LED MR16 replacement bulb you used?

I'm looking at some WAC MR16 recessed fixtures, and I'm thinking that route will get me the energy efficiency and longevity I want for an initial fixture that will perform. Thanks!

I used Juno 4" recessed lights (with 2700K bulbs) for my living room and 2" Nicor recessed lights (3000K) for a hallway. I chose the 2" lights because I wanted them to be unobtrusive.

Were you thinking of using trimless recessed lights? build.com has several from a company named Jesco in various sizes, all with switchable color temperatures.

These RAB recessed downlights are only 2" in diameter and claim to be very unobtrusive without needing trimless installation.

I really prefer the light quality from a traditional recessed light. The lamp is a couple inches above the plane of the ceiling and most of the light is projected down. I find most of the wafer lights much more obtrusive when on. Wonderful in certain situations but not my go to.
