in my MI.. i get a decent show every third year or so.. im surprised you have higher expectations than that.. and are surprised you didnt have a spectacular show this season...

The show has been great for many years in the area for the Kwanzan, The Accolade, which didn't bloom, is usually the hit or miss suspect.

I live in Southern Maine and my Peach tree has no buds. My forsythia didn't bloom, my PJM rhodo has only blooms below the level of my stone wall (ie where sheltered from wind), and my tree peony, which was there before we bought the house and at least 15 years old has only shoots from the roots. All the above-ground plant died.

It was a hard winter --- the lack of snow combined with harsh wind and some very cold spells really did a number on my plants.

Oh no. sounds like you had a lot of trouble as well.

The -20 with the wind in Feb and spotty snow must have been a factor. My peach also had issues.

Thats mother nature; hopefully next year will be more promising.

Lots of similar issues here near central MA too in condo complex. My neighbor's Kwanzan cherry did not bloom and it used to reliably every year. Her Rose of Sharon has not a speck of green on it. Another neighbors ROS is a bit better. Nobody's forsythia bloomed. Endless Summer (bummers) super slow coming up from base. Nothing from stems. Many Jap Maples (probably Bloodgood) are skimpy. another Viburnum has a large section dead. My knockout rose only has a few bits coming up here and there. This pic was yesterday. Last year it was full bloom on 6/11. Trying to decide if I should wait or trash it. Came here to start my thread for the rose, but I'll join here... so we can all commiserate! Oh, another one... a friend in southern NH's clematis Jackmani looks quite dead with just small bits coming up at the base. She said her obelisk toppled over the winter so maybe some stress played into it. My clematis's are fine thank goodness!
