Of the four above, #2 is the only one I like. I don't think that rugs with a light, close to white, background look good on your floors. IMO contrast is much better. The others will give a similar overall look as the first rug Photoshop I posted.

I love spaces that embrace color. A rug is not the only way to do that though. You can also use paint and art with the furnishings you have selected. Any combination is fine. I have similar style sofas and color combinations with a cowhide rug and white walls. I was able to incorporate more color with art and I painted a door in the room orange. It just depends on how far off the edge you are willing to jump with color.

This room is exploding with color and I love everything about it. The rug does not compete with the furnishing, and it is well put together. You can get a room very similar to this look by using this rug and purchasing a few pieces of art. It would be spectacular. This rug is geometric. It does not compete with the furnishings and the room looks fabulous. I am sure you can find others that will work as well.

Yes, the more the merrier! I’m not great at picking out rugs either. I am such a visual person, so I really need to see the way it would look with the current furniture I have. What program do you guys use to drop rugs into rooms? Friday- you did several above. I would love to see some of the more colorful geometric rugs with my furniture.

I don't love it.

Do you think it’s too busy? What don’t you like.

Perhaps it is because of all the other decor added to the photo or maybe because I don't see the other walls but It seems way too busy for my taste. There is no place for the eye to focus. How big is the room? There are ways to make it work. I assume the sofa is facing a large wall. Perhaps if that wall contained a huge painting, that could be the focus. That may or may not be cost prohibitive.

I like this overall space much better. It is less stuff and appears more pulled together.

Thanks so much for all of your input. I can totally see where you are coming from, but I am not in love with the rug. The last 2 pictures are giving me more of a southwest vibe with the terra-cotta and orange colors. I was hoping to find something more vibrant and bright. Can you tell me what program you use to create these mood boards? I would love to try it out with some of the brighter geometric prints.

I use Microsoft Paint to do the renderings. It is a free program that can be downloaded on most pc's. The more common way to do it is with Photoshop but it has a bigger learning curve and is very expensive.

Providing you with options would have been so much easier if you had simply posted an image of the room. We could have tried out rugs in the space.

@Cortney H this photo isn't big enough to add rugs to, do you have a bigger photo of the room? As for me I typically just cut and paste items into your photo with the sofa and chair, not effiicient. Or with a larger photo, sites like rugsdirect will let you upload and try rugs in your space right on their website. Also Sherwin Williams has a visualizer where you can paint rooms by uploading your photo.

Just as a note, the space does not have to be empty. Items can be erased that don't need to be there by use of photo editing. What is beneficial along with the floor plan, is multiple photos of the space showing every wall. Also, it is much easier to edit photos if the photo is taken parallel to the wall. The photo that you provided appears to have been taken while standing in a corner of the room. You don't want the corner in the center of the photo. You want a straight wall in the center instead.

@Cortney H, I would add dimensions to the space you posted below. As for uploading a photo, it just needs to be bigger, the one you added just isn't big enough. And, the room doesn't have to be empty. That way, folks can add various rugs for you via the website visualizer that many rug sellers have on their sites. Hoping this makes sense. And, an actual photo is best vs a drawing.

IMO, for the purpose of editing, it is best to take multiple photos like the 2nd example for each wall in the room.
