I’m posting these photos for no other reason than I found it very hard to find real-world photos with these stain colors.

In the photos are the following #sherwinwilliams #deckscapes #semisolid #deck #stain colors. Tested on treated pine and the pine paint sticks.

Darker color on large board: Banyan Brown
Sticks with redder tone: Woodridge
Sticks with gold tone: Baja Beige

I decided to go with a semi-solid deck stain because I don’t like all the knots in the pine deck and fence we just had put up. My contractor’s default is Sherwin-Williams, so for convenience that’s what I stuck with.

I was looking for a color that was on the lighter side, but not too orange/red. Also, because you can’t get sample sizes of deck stain, I limited myself to 3 test samples.

The semi-solid stain is kind of like a thin paint. It has a very flat finish that I’m not overly enthused about, but I’ve decided for my sanity not to get too picky.

The Banyan Brown does have an olive undertone to it, but I think my camera exaggerates the green a bit. It looks a bit more brown in the shade.

I decided to go with Baja Beige because it will flow better from our oak floors. We live in the city and have limited space, so I thought having continuity between the inside and outside would make it flow better.
