We are remodelling out kitchen and didn't plan on changing the floorplan. However, there is a large area in the center (between the island and a freestanding fireplace). We are trying to decide whether to extend the kitchen island, making it large enough to fit our family to all sit at as well as assign that open area to be part of the kitchen. There are a few options highlighted in blue for distance to extend it as well as adding cabinetry. Should this entire area be part of the kitchen or should we keep it as is?
