white paint dilemma

Hello! We are building a custom house and paint choices are quite possibly giving me the biggest anxiety.
It is very open concept. Our kitchen will be natural stained white oak and perimeter. cabinets will be white dove. I am thinking I am going to do white dove walls throughout, minus my girls’ rooms. I thought about doing the trim white dove as well, but our interior doors are paint grade, so I’m thinking it might all be too white. We have black framed windows, medium tone white oak floors, stone fireplace, etc.
Thoughts on doing the base and case/ doors in a warmer/darker tone? I don’t want to go crazy, maybe BM windsbreath. I’ll take ALL the suggestions. Thanks!

WHITE DOVE vs CLOUD WHITE WHITE, SWISS COFFEE & 10 OTHER POPULAR COLORS - Kylie M Interiors

European Oak floors will give you more choices. Monarch Plank is one of many flooring suppliers using this species with less open grain.

So can we see the floors and the space s? IMO wall color is chosen last when all lighting and flooring are in . If this is true custom home then the painters should know how to protect the floors for painting. So much depends on the trim style for sure wether you want to high light it or just havr it blend. I think the lighting has a huge effect on wall color and so does all your stuff you are putting in the space .I guess White Dove would be the safe choice .I never like a wall color with yellow undertones which I find is there in WD but I aslo do not like darker painted trim. This is my usual color for walls when clients have to choose neutral before flooring or lighting is in. It is IMO a true neutral just think nature . Very few white or beiges that are the backdrop for every color in a garden. I often cut this 25% for a nice hint of color that works literally with everything. Then I would just use the White Dove for the trim to connect to the cabinet color .

I would not do BM Windsbreath for your baseboard and doors. If you decide to change paint colors for the walls later, you will greatly limit your choices by using WB.

All my cabinets, trim, crown, doors and built-ins are painted BM Chantilly Lace and my walls are BM White Dove. It isn't too much white. I have medium brown wood floors and beams stained in a similar brown.

My whole house walls were first painted in WB and I found it too dark and yellow. I repainted all the walls to White Dove.

Here is a photo that shows:

    trim: BM Chantilly Lace

    Left upper wall: BM Windsbreath

right side wall: BM White Dove

What bm paint did you have the use on your trim and cabinets?

our interior doors are paint grade, probably poplar. So, I don't understand the problem. Paint the wood work and doors through out the house in White Dove, semi-gloss. Assuming you are doing semi-gloss on the cabinets. Nice segue, from room to room. Where ever you want white walls, you can do White Dove in matte finish. Make sure the ceiling is White Dove...you can use the matte of the walls.

This all super helpful, especially the pictures. Thank you! The floors will be finished being installed this week. I’ll try to grab a picture of them up there. Here is one of the floor samples against our current white oak floors which are lighter, and our walls, which are simply white.(current home not new)
Part of me feels maybe we should have gone more pure white on our cabinets, but that ship sailed. The perimeter are white dove.
I’m leaning towards white dove walls and trim/doors in a different sheen or white dove walls and chantilly lace trim/doors/ ceilings.
Any reason I wouldn’t do WD walls and trim but chantilly lace on the ceiling?

Chantilly Lace is "whiter" than White Dove. If the trim is White Dove semi-gloss, stick with White Dove for ceiling in flat finish. It's tricky mixing whites when they abut. Chantilly could make the White Dove off.

I'm confused about the floor sample(s). Which photo is the best representation?

@elcieg the one laying on top of our current white oak floors show they are are little warmer tone. The other post shows the floors actually being laid, although they are still in the process, dirty, etc.

@stacit13 the permiter cabinets are white dove. We haven't decided on wall/trim/door/ ceiling colors yet, but I'm leaning towards all things white dove, in a different sheen. We do have a lot of natural light.

@Patricia Colwell Consulting pictures posted. We haven't selected the paint colors yet, hence my post. Floors are being completed this week and cabinets go in next week.
