to stain or not to stain?

I recently sanded off the honey oak stain (shown in the first photo) on my mantle. I’m not sure if I should leave it natural (to match the log furniture) or stain it darker to compliment the floors. I think the dark would pop more against the wall, but I’m torn.

As it is now, the wall and mantle have conflicting undertones (more red/pink in the walls, while the mantel is slightly more yellow). The darker stain will highlight the mortar to make the stone pop. Pretty space, and I LOVE your owl lamps -- are they vintage?!

I would leave it like it is as the flooring has many of the tones of the fireplace and wall. It's very pretty. The lightness makes it warm and cozy.

There are too many non-coordinating wood tones in your room - mantel, wall, furniture and flooring. Would recommend trying to tie them all together. Would you consider staining the walls and mantel to better match the flooring?
