Leave a small amount of stem when it dies down or put a stick next to it. Dig up the bulb at the end of August and maybe you can replant three babies.

Unlikely. The parent bulb might not do it again next year either. But no harm in marking and experimenting.

I never dig up my alliums.

But having said that the one in question had the same fasciation in 2022.

Yes, I learned about fascination a few years back from this forum (maybe from floral!) when I saw something similar happen in my garden. This spring, one of my crown imperial fritillarias came up that way - it looked like three had been fused together!
